🧴 Why your shampoo doesn't lather much (and why that's normal)

It’s not the lather that cleans, it’s the formula.

Many people associate a shampoo's effectiveness with the amount of lather it produces. However, this is a myth that natural cosmetics have been debunking for several years. At Ikala Ngita, we have made a different choice: that of gentleness, quality, and respect for textured hair.

🌿 Less lather = more respect

Our shampoos are formulated without harsh sulfates.
Sulfates are powerful foaming agents… but they are also very stripping. They remove natural sebum, dry out the lengths, and can weaken the scalp.

This is even more true for curly, coily, or kinky hair, which needs care, not aggression.

💧 What a gentle shampoo does:

  • It cleans effectively without irritating

  • It respects the natural hydrolipidic film of the scalp

  • It limits breakage, frizz, and dryness

  • It may lather a little… but that is not its priority

🧼 So how do you use it properly?

If you are used to ultra-foaming shampoos, you may need a short adjustment period.
Here are a few tips:

1*Wet your hair well before applying the product

2*Massage the scalp gently — it’s the massage that cleans, not the lather

3*Add a little water to your hands if you want to activate the texture more

4*And if needed: do a second shampoo → it often lathers more!

✨ Lather or not… the essential thing is the care.

At Ikala Ngita, we want to reconcile effectiveness and respect.
Our formulas cleanse, purify, and nourish — without ever being harsh.
Because we believe in natural beauty that is gentle and rooted in what hair really is.
