Knowing your curl type: the foundation of a good hair care routine
Partager

You keep hearing about 2A, 3C, 4B... but you don't really know what they mean?
Don't panic. Understanding your curl type is the first step to effectively taking care of your textured hair.
🌀 Curl types: a simple classification
Hair is classified into 4 main families:
.Type 1: straight hair
.Type 2: wavy hair
.Type 3: curly hair
.Type 4: coily/kinky hair
Each type is divided into sub-categories A, B, and C depending on the shape, volume, and density of the curl.
📍 Type 2 (Wavy – 2A to 2C)
Light waves, sometimes frizzy
Needs: lightness, volume, definition without weighing it down
📍 Type 3 (Curly – 3A to 3C)
Well-formed, bouncy S-shaped curls
Needs: hydration, definition, soft hold
📍 Type 4 (Coily – 4A to 4C)
Tight coils, natural frizz, dense texture
Needs: nourishment, protection, protective styles
🔍 How to identify your type?
1.Wash your hair and let it air dry without any product
2.Observe its natural shape:
.Waves? → Type 2
.Loose spirals? → Type 3
.Tight coils or Z-pattern? → Type 4
3.You might also have several textures on the same head: that's normal!
💡 Why is it important?
