Ylang-Ylang: an enchanting flower that enhances curly and kinky hair

Ylang-ylang is an iconic flower of tropical regions, particularly Madagascar and the Comoros.
With its yellow star-shaped petals and captivating fragrance, it is known all over the world… but what do we really know about its benefits for hair?

A fragrant… and sensory tradition

In Madagascar, ylang-ylang flowers are sometimes placed in coconut oil, simply to scent it.
This ancestral practice has inspired many beauty rituals in the Indian Ocean.

Still today, this flower remains a symbol of warmth, sensuality, and softness.

Why ylang-ylang in hair care?

Although used in perfumery, ylang-ylang essential oil also possesses interesting properties for hair:

.Balances sebum production, whether the scalp is oily or dry

.Soothes sensitive or stressed scalps

.Softens and makes the hair fiber supple, especially for dry, curly, or kinky hair

.And of course… its floral, sweet, and warm scent leaves a unique sensory impression

A perfect alliance in my products

At Ikala Ngita, I chose ylang-ylang for its Malagasy roots, its natural fragrance, and its gentle effects on hair.
In the leave-in and the shampoo, it is combined with other natural ingredients like ravintsara or tiare, to create respectful, effective… and sensory care.

A flower, a memory

Ylang-ylang is not just an ingredient.
It is an evocation of childhood, of flowers in the hair, of scents that comfort and repair.

It is this olfactory and emotional memory that I wanted to translate into my formulas.
Gentle care, so that every step of your hair routine becomes a moment of self-care… and connection.
